A Message from our Medical Officer

Wood Badge course S7-602-12-1 is fast approaching. Because the course is more than 72 hours long, participants and staff are required to complete BSA Annual Health and Medical Form Parts A, B and C. This is true even though the course occurs over 2 different weekends. The part C component requires a physical exam by a licensed health care professional. BSA national policy indicates that this must be dated no earlier than May 7, 2011.

I would also request that you provide a copy of your health insurance card. If someone has an urgent medical event during the activity, this data will be important for emergency medical crews if the staff member or participant is incapacitated. All these forms will be held in strictest confidence and returned to the individual at the end of the course.

Remember to check your supply of prescription medications as you prepare for the weekend activities. We are only able to provide basic first aid services during the event.

We certainly hope that no one has need for emergency medical services but, since a scout is prepared, it is sensible to plan for potential issues.

If you have any questions regarding the Health and Medical Forms or need to make me aware of any particular needs or concerns please feel free to contact me directly. I look forward to meeting everyone soon.
